5 Tips To Start Strength Training.
To begin strength training can be daunting. Maybe it’s your first time going to a commercial gym or it may have been a long time since you have been to a gym. Whatever category you fall into we have some tips to get you cranking into strength training for the first time or first time in a long time.
1- Routine. Choose a time or day you want to train. The body gets used to a routine and after a few weeks your body will love it. Getting up early can take some time to get used to, so routine is key.
2- Start steady. Look at starting with a few days of body weight training if you haven’t done any strength training before. Start slow and build. Your body will take a few weeks to adapt. Once you have a solid base you can start to add strength movements in.
3- Warm up. This is vital in any program. Getting the muscles and joints ready for action is important. Your warm up doesn’t need to be specific at the start, just move and get a sweat up.
4- Movement choices. Make your weights light and move a lot more reps to start. Look at movements like squatting, pressing & pulling to get you started. Anhigher rep scheme to start, 3 sets of 12-15 reps is a great range to build a solid base.
5- Rest, hydration, recovery. Have rest days between training to start. Good hydration not only when you train but also days off. Sleep, get plenty of sleep to help you recover better.
